In Revelation 3:20, Jesus says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.” The surprising truth is that Jesus is not saying this to unbelievers, but to the believers within the church. This means that even if we attend church and serve, the door of our heart can still be closed to Him.

Like the church in Laodicea, many believers today appear wealthy and successful on the outside but are spiritually “lukewarm.” When we lose ourselves in the business of the world and our own pride, our hearts gradually begin to harden. By repeatedly ignoring the voice of the Holy Spirit, falling into the deception of sin, and hearing God’s Word without obeying it, layers of sin begin to settle upon our hearts. Consequently, we become spiritually insensitive and stop feeling the presence of God.

Yet, Jesus continues to knock at the door of our hearts with love and patience. He does not force His way in; we must humbly open the door ourselves. The solution is true repentance and a pure heart. Matthew 5:8 says, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

Therefore, let us examine our hearts today. If we turn away from our sins and invite Jesus in, He will fellowship with us and make our lives new. Accepting God’s love and maintaining a humble, open heart is the true key to spiritual life.
