Five fears that believers must overcome.
Discover how to overcome fear and step courageously into the promises God has prepared.
Fear is one of the greatest obstacles keeping believers from stepping into everything God has prepared. While God gives promises, they are possessed by those who choose faith over fear. When Joshua faced the daunting task of leading Israel into the Promised Land, God’s answer to his hesitation was not merely positive thinking. It was the unshakable assurance of His continual presence: "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
Experiencing God's promises always requires movement. Comfort can easily become a barrier to spiritual progress. To move forward, believers must leave familiar routines and cross into unfamiliar territory, just as Israel did at the Jordan River. We must actively overcome the anxiety of tomorrow and the trap of seeking human approval, which led to King Saul's downfall. Where fear acts as a magnet drawing the mind toward defeat, faith fixes its eyes on God's faithfulness, just as David did before Goliath. Fear must be answered with the truth of God’s Word before it grows into unbelief.
Take heart today, because God has not given His people a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. Whatever obstacle stands before you, you do not face it alone. As you step out of your comfort zone and walk forward in obedient faith, you can move with confidence, knowing the God who promised to guide you is already waiting for you on the other side of your fear.
