The Church is very Essential.
The church is not a building but an essential spiritual family, vital for growth and connection with Christ.
Speaker: Mani Pandey
The church is not merely a physical building; it is an essential foundation for one's spiritual life. Just as the human body requires air, water, and food to survive, the church is mandatory for a believer’s spiritual existence. Although the notion of "I believe in Jesus, but I don't need the church" is prevalent in modern times, the Bible explicitly directs every believer to be connected to the church.
The Greek word 'Ecclesia' means 'an assembly of gathered people.' In this sense, we ourselves are the church. Hebrews 10:25 urges us not to give up meeting together and to encourage one another. Gathering in the church should be developed as a holy 'habit.' The church has five main purposes: worship, ministry, discipleship, evangelism, and fellowship. Through these means, we express our love for God, serve others, and grow spiritually.
The church is significant because Jesus Himself built it and loves it. The church is the Body of Christ, His family, and the Shepherd’s flock. Just as a branch cannot survive if it is severed from the vine, our spiritual growth is not possible if we remain detached from the church.
Therefore, we should present ourselves in the church not as guests, but as responsible members of the family. It is our duty to maintain a heart of service, take on responsibilities through membership, and be present in the house of God with proper timing, attire, and reverence. As stated in Psalm 122:1, going to church should not be an obligation for us, but a matter of great joy and priority. A vibrant relationship with the church is, in fact, a reflection of a deep relationship with Jesus.
